One of the pillars of Café Leather is craftsmanship excellence. We believe in the old way of doing things, when time was slow and products where made to last. Thats why we develope our products localy in Madrid and then leave the production to the best hands in the leather world: The artisans from Ubrique (Spain) .
Leather is one of the raw materials our ancestors appreciated most. Since leather is a breathable material, people began investigating how to preserve its raw quality and how to make it more durable. This is what we call tanning. The process of 100% vegetable tanning is one that is done in the most natural and environmentally respectful way possible, as was done before, without using chemicals to help lower costs. One of the main characteristics of vegetable tanned leather is that its pores are left open, allowing the leather to create a unique and beautiful patina over time.
For a long time, leather tanning in this town was a national reference. With the pass of time, tanneries became minority, then followed by a complete specialization of leather products manufacturing. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the biggest luxury brands produce their products in Ubrique, given the tradition and exquisite quality of the manufacturers of the village, specially their hand finishing. In this sector, like in any other, exists a wide range of different qualities and categories.
